In the ongoing 152-day conflict between Israel and Gaza, the devastation inflicted by the Israeli army in Khan Yunis has been documented. Following a partial retreat by the Israeli forces, extensive damage to homes, businesses, and infrastructure in the city has been observed. Numerous health and education facilities have also been destroyed, rendering the city uninhabitable. The Israeli military initiated the operation in Khan Yunis last December, prompting many residents to relocate to Rafah. Despite the partial withdrawal, there is a prevailing fear among Gazans of potential future attacks, deterring them from returning to Khan Yunis.

Speaking after the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels, Kallas confirmed growing support for revisiting the EU-Israel Association Agreement.
She noted that while sanctions on Israeli settlers and ministers had been proposed, they were blocked by one member state. Kallas also stressed that Ukraine remains a priority and criticized Russia for rejecting a ceasefire accepted by Ukraine over 60 days ago.
