Italian Financial Police have made a major drug bust off the coast of Venice, seizing 850 kilograms of cocaine with a market value of 170 million euros. The operation took place on a commercial ship originating from South America, making it the largest amount of drugs ever seized in the Veneto region. The bust dealt a significant blow to drug dealers and their illegal operations.
The ship’s 20-man crew has claimed that they were unaware of the drugs onboard. However, an investigation is ongoing to determine whether there is a connection between this seizure and the recent confiscation of 2 tons of cocaine with a market value of 400 million euros off the coast of Sicily.
