To combat extreme summer heat and prevent heatstroke, Japanese developers have created an innovative walk-in refrigerator where people can step inside to rapidly lower their body temperature. Created by SDRS and Trusco Nakayama, the “Dohiemon Box” cools the user’s entire body by blowing chilled air at temperatures as low as 5 degrees Celsius. Highlighting its wide range of applications, Aoi Tofuku from Trusco Nakayama noted the product is ideal for “workers or construction site operators in scorching heat,” as well as at outdoor recreation facilities. The unique device has seen strong demand since its April launch, selling 328 units priced at 1.5 million yen ($9,300). While currently aimed at domestic users, developers plan to introduce the cooling cabinet to international markets in the future.
