July 2023 is recorded as the “hottest month”

According to the latest monthly report from the Copernicus Climate Change Service on global temperature averages, this past July was the hottest month ever recorded. The average temperature in July, measured at 16.63 degrees Celsius, exceeded that of the previous hottest month, July 2019, by 0.3 degrees Celsius.

Samantha Burgess, deputy director of the organization, noted that the average temperature last July was 1.5 degrees Celsius above the levels recorded before the pre-industrial period. She warned that these records could have dire consequences for our planet and its inhabitants. Reducing global greenhouse gas emissions, the primary factor behind these temperature rises, is critical, she added.
