Kenya’s Engin Fırat Pays Visit to Turkish Ambassador

Kenya National Team Coach Engin Fırat visited the Turkish Ambassador, Subutay Yüksel, in his Nairobi office. During the meeting, they discussed the relations between the two countries. Ambassador Yüksel described the appointment of Engin Fırat as the Kenyan national team coach as a great opportunity for Kenyan football. He added that the Kenya Football Federation and the Kenyan Sports Minister, Ababu Namwamba, who will work with such a name, showed their vision with this move. Underlining that it is essential for a Turkish coach to work with foreign national teams, not only in terms of sports but also in terms of strengthening strategic relations, Subutay Yüksel stated that such steps would further accelerate the momentum of Türkiye-Kenya relations and the increasing trade volume.

Subutay Yüksel mentioned that during the earthquake disaster that Türkiye experienced, the Kenyan government and people provided their support by sending aid planes to the affected regions. “Our diplomatic contacts will continue during the healing phase, and we would also like to meet with Kenyan Minister of Sports Ababu Namwamba in the coming days for future sports collaborations. The arrival of Engin Firat will enable us to progress even faster in these matters. I believe that our coach will achieve great success here and will represent our country very well. We will always be ready to support him as much as we can on behalf of our country,” Yüksel stated.
