Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei accused the United States of trying to block Iran from gaining nuclear technology to keep the country dependent. Speaking in Tehran at a ceremony marking the 36th anniversary of Ayatollah Khomeini’s death, Khamenei said, “They want to make us dependent on them. They cannot do anything about it.”
He declared Iran’s political system a product of a powerful revolution and credited it with weakening US influence and rising opposition to Zionism. “We have foiled more than a thousand plots,” Khamenei claimed, saying Iran has resisted global efforts to undermine its independence.
He stressed that nuclear technology, especially uranium enrichment, is essential for Iran’s scientific and strategic development. “The nuclear industry is not limited to energy. Uranium enrichment is the key point,” he said, adding that past experiences proved the US cannot be trusted.
Khamenei rejected Washington’s authority over Iran’s nuclear choices: “Who are you to decide whether Iran will enrich uranium? The US is complicit in killings and must be removed from the region.”
