Kirkuk Residents Heading To Election Polls

The people of Kirkuk have been voting in the local elections, held for the first time in 18 years. For the 16 seats in the Kirkuk Provincial Council, the winners of which will be determined by more than 870,000 voters in the city, a total of 248 candidates are competing. The election results are expected to be announced tomorrow.

“So far, there have been no problems with the voting or our devices, and there were no obstacles during the voting,” said Ali Abbas, Press Officer of the Kirkuk Office of the Supreme Election Commission.

The elections held in Kirkuk in 2005 could not be completed due to internal conflicts and political disagreements.
