Kyrgyz Women Riding Ancestral Footsteps from China to Kyrgyzstan

Two young Kyrgyz women, dressed in traditional attire, have embarked on an epic horseback journey from China’s Xinjiang region to Kyrgyzstan along the ancient Silk Road. Documenting their adventure on social media since setting off on May 5, the travelers are regularly welcomed into local villages with traditional “Kara Corgo” dances and folk songs. Traveler Rizaa explained that their challenging trek across mountains and rivers is a direct tribute to their ancestors and a way to preserve their shared cultural heritage. The grueling expedition has naturally required frequent rest stops, even prompting them to temporarily swap out one of their exhausted horses with local villagers to ensure it receives proper medical care.
