In Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh state of India, an elderly woman tried to cross the rails despite all warnings. 59-year-old police officer Kamlesh Kumar Dubey, who noticed the train coming to the station while the old woman was on the railway track, saved her life by pulling the woman to the platform at the station. The Indian Railways Ministry shared the images on its social media account.
Landslides triggered by heavy rain have killed 7 people and left at least 21 missing in southern China. In Guizhou province, 2 were confirmed dead and 19 are still unaccounted for in Qingyang village, where rescue efforts involving 400 personnel continue. Authorities issued alerts for nearby Hunan and Jiangxi provinces, warning of further landslide risks. Similar rainfall last week killed 7 in Guangdong and Guangxi.
