At the MED9 summit in Portoroz, Slovenia, leaders of nine EU Mediterranean countries called on Israel to open border crossings and allow humanitarian aid into Gaza.
Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob said the group supports the ceasefire and a UN resolution to deploy a stabilization force in Gaza. French President Emmanuel Macron stressed that Ukraine must be included in any talks on its future, while Spain’s Pedro Sanchez said both sides must uphold the truce.
Malta’s Prime Minister Robert Abela cited his country’s recognition of Palestine after witnessing the suffering of Palestinian children, and Italy’s Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said Rome is ready to send forces to help monitor Gaza’s Rafah crossing.
