Migrant influx to Spain across the Moroccan border

More than 400 irregular migrants tried to cross the Moroccan border to Melilla, which is Spain’s territory in North Africa and has the status of an autonomous province. The local government stated that the immigrant group flocked to the fence at the border at 08:40 am local time and at least 130 immigrants managed to cross the border. It’s emphasized that the immigrants broke the entrance gate of the checkpoint in the area called Chinatown, located on the Moroccan border, and entered Melilla by jumping through the barbed wires. It’s been noted that the influx of migrants was an “organized event” and many of them entered Spanish territory despite the 2-hour efforts of Moroccan border officials to prevent the crossing.
