Mortar fired to the green zone in Baghdad where Sadr supporters attacked. The area was hit several times by an unknown party while the Sadr supporters and security forces were engaged in firefight.
Iraq press stated that the gunfights were between security forces and the military unit of Sadr movement named Seraya es-Selam. It is also stated that death toll rised to 12 while more than 200 injured.
Sadr movement leader Mukteda Sadr staged a hunger strike to protest the acts of violence. El Adari says that Sadr will continue his strike until violence is ended.
