Israeli forces struck a five-story building in the city of Beit Lahya in the northern Gaza Strip where about 100 civilians were taking shelter. Health officials said that many people were killed and injured in the building, which was hit twice, but no specific number was given.
Mahmoud Basal, a spokesperson for the Civil Defense Organization in Gaza, said that officials were unable to reach the area and take action to rescue the residents.
Hundreds of thousands of Iranians took to the streets after Friday prayers to protest Israel’s recent attacks on the country. The largest gatherings occurred in the capital, Tehran, where demonstrators marched following prayers at Tehran University.
High-ranking officials, including Iran’s Constitutional Court head Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei and former IRGC commander Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari, joined the protest. Participants waved Iranian, Palestinian, and resistance group flags, and trampled on Israeli and US flags laid on the ground.
Protesters held banners reading “Down with Israel”, “Down with the US”, and “The Zionist regime will be destroyed”, while chanting slogans such as “We stand behind our leader”, “Everyone who clashed with Khamenei will eventually be destroyed”, and “Our right to nuclear weapons”.
