NATO’s Stoltenberg Urges Increased Weapons Supply to Ukraine

At a joint press conference during the Munich Security Conference, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg welcomed the EU’s approval of a 50 billion euro aid package to Ukraine and called on the USA to follow suit. He emphasized the need for continued arms supply to Ukraine, stating that this is essential for achieving lasting peace and deterring Russia. Stoltenberg also encouraged NATO countries to enhance their arms stocks. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen highlighted the broader impact of the Russia-Ukraine War, addressing concerns about instability, cyber threats, and disinformation affecting both Europe and the United States. Von der Leyen expressed satisfaction with the approval of the 50 billion euro aid package and announced plans to present a strategy for the European defense industry in the coming month.
