Oil tanker explodes near Bangkok, Thailand’s Capital

An oil tanker carrying 3 million liters of crude oil exploded as it passed through the Chao Phraya river, which is surrounded by settlements, on its way to Thailand’s capital, Bangkok. After the explosion, the tanker caught fire, killing one of the 15 crew members on board and injuring four others. With the arrival of numerous aid teams on the scene, the situation was brought under control. Following the initial investigations, it was determined that the explosion was caused by a fire that started in the ship’s anchor room in the front, and that there was no oil spill from the ship into the river.
