Taliban overtakes first year in Afghanistan

It has been a year since Taliban took control in Afghanistan and there are quite various thoughts on the governing now. While the government of Taliban and some parts of the citizens are satisfied with the current situation, the other part of the community and some analysts speak the opposite and criticize the regime.

After US army withdraw from the country, Taliban pushed their chances to take over Afghanistan again. The takeover was a traumatic incident for Afghanistan citizens at the first place. There were thousands of Afghans trying to flee the new governing. Even some of them died after climbing a plane’s wheel and falling back to the ground. However, an important amount of citizens are happy with the country’s current situation now. They claim to feel safer since the attacks stopped and they are hopeful for getting to their jobs back again.

By referring to that all violence and bullying is over and many enhancements were or will be made in economy, security and international affairs fields, Bilal Karimi ,Asistant Spokesperson of Islamic Emirate, said that “With the help of Islamic Emirate, Afghanistan gained a historical victory.”

However, there are critiques against Taliban’s actions. Monesa Mubarez, a Civil Rights Analyst stated that since the governing of Taliban started, social rights were repressed like never before. Freedom of speech and press, right to education and security and democracy are never provided by Taliban. Prof. Abdul Basir Nabizada, a politics analyst, defended that Taliban failed to prevent the economic, social and governmental crisis and provide employment.

The economic crisis became an even bigger problem in the country. Women were forced to quit their job and banned from working in most places. With many countries and organizations stopping funding, banking sector seems to have bankrupted. An Afghanistan citizen named Farid Paktin said: “August 15 is a cursed day. I was a senior student and I was working at the same time. I got separated both my university and job. Economic and mental security are demolished by them.”
