Optical Illusion Confuses Drivers on Road in Türkiye

A road in Sakarya, referred to as the ‘Mysterious Road’ due to its perplexing uphill appearance, has been examined by Sakarya University of Applied Sciences (SUBÜ) Civil Engineering Department faculty member Prof. Dr. Metin İpek. Despite drivers feeling like they are moving uphill, measurements revealed a two percent downward slope. İpek explained that the phenomenon is an optical illusion, visible from certain angles, and advised against further testing.
