Pakistan Heatwave Claims 16 Lives as Temperatures Hit 44.1°C

A punishing heatwave in Karachi, Pakistan, has claimed at least 16 lives since the weekend as temperatures soared to 44.1 degrees Celsius. This marks the city’s highest recorded temperature since 2018, prompting residents to desperately cool off in nearby rivers or pour water over themselves to survive the scorching conditions. Local welfare organizations report that victims were found across various districts, with several individuals still remaining unidentified. With the extreme heat spreading to neighboring cities, health officials are urgently advising the public to stay hydrated and avoid all unnecessary outdoor activities.
