Pakistan’s Monsoon Death Toll Climbs to 107

The death toll from devastating floods and landslides triggered by relentless monsoon rains in Pakistan has climbed to 107 since late June. The Pakistan National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) confirmed the mounting casualties, reporting that 10 of those fatalities occurred in just the last 24 hours. Unfortunately, communities battling the rising waters will see no immediate relief. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) warned that a fresh wave of severe weather will strike the country’s major river basins starting July 29. This incoming system threatens to bring heavy downpours to the capital, Islamabad, along with northern Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
