Pakistan’s newly acquired Hangor-class submarine has successfully struck a long-range target in the Arabian Sea using an anti-ship cruise missile during its maiden live-fire test. Inducted into the naval fleet on April 30, the advanced vessel is equipped with air-independent propulsion technology, modern sensors, and enhanced stealth capabilities. Navy Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf observed the drill, emphasizing the critical importance of developing subsurface warfare capabilities to maintain a reliable maritime deterrent. Praising the successful launch, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif stated that the strike clearly “demonstrates the operational readiness, professional competence, and combat capability” of the country’s submarine forces.
