Scooters in Paris, the capital of France, began to be removed from the streets after the ban decision, which was a result of a referendum, was announced to come into effect on September 1. The municipality of Paris collected all of the 15000 scooters in the city. With the abolition of scooters, which have long been the target of controversy, Paris became the first European capital to ban scooters.
Only 7.5 percent of the Paris population participated in the referendum, where 89 percent of the public voted to ban electric scooters.
