Pencil collector’s museumlike store attracts attention in Tehran

A museumlike pencil store of a pencil collector, named Muhammed Refii, that has all kinds of pencils, draws great attention of both foreigners and locals in Tehran, Iran. The 30-year-old pencil store, located in the Grand Bazaar in the capital, takes visitors on a journey through history.

51-year-old Muhammed Refii, nicknamed “doctor pencil”, collects thousands of pencils from different factories, people and many places, taking his visitors and customers to their childhood memories with those discontinued and antique pencils from all over the world.

“I had an interest in colored pencils from my childhood. I used to paint with colored pencils and visualize them in my mind. I wanted to open a store by bringing together pencils in all colors. My store is small, but it is my pencil heaven and I love it here…Today, not many people are interested in pencil collecting anymore. I opened this store because I love it and the interest of those who see my store makes me happy”. says Refii.
