Tensions escalated in the South China Sea as a Philippine coast guard ship collided with its Chinese counterpart in the disputed Ayungin Shoal region. The incident occurred during the Philippine coast guard’s supply operation, with accusations from the Philippines that the Chinese ship engaged in perilous maneuvers. Four Filipinos sustained injuries in the collision, and damage was inflicted upon the Philippine vessel, BRP Sindangan.
