Philippines Landslide Death Toll Hits 68

 

The death toll from last week’s landslide near a mining area in Davao de Oro province, Philippines, has risen to 68. The disaster, which occurred near a gold mine in Maco town, has left 51 people still missing. Maco town disaster official Ariel Capoy mentioned that search and rescue efforts would conclude tomorrow.

The US Embassy in Manila has announced $1.25 million in humanitarian aid for the affected communities in the southern islands, facilitated by the US Agency for International Development. Additionally, the US Department of Defense contributed a C-130 cargo plane to assist in delivering food aid.
