Poland announced signing the contract to purchase 116 used M1A1 Abrams tanks from the USA. “we are strengthening the armored fist of the army. This is a crucial element to strongly support the army and deter the aggressor,” said the Polish Defence Ministry Mariusz Blaszczak, adding that the cooperation will serve Poland and the eastern part of NATO, and that their cooperation with the United States is long-term.
The delivery of the tanks will begin this year.
