Poland says it has received 1,9 millions of refugees from Ukraine

The Polish Border Protection Agency (Straz Graniczna) reported that the number of refugees who took refuge in Poland since the beginning of the war in Ukraine has reached 1,893,000. Since men between the ages of 18-60 are prohibited from leaving the country in Ukraine, most of the arriving are women, children, the elderly and the disabled. It was noted that nearly 300,000 of the refugees, who stayed in the dormitories prepared for them in the sports halls and fairgrounds, as well as in the hotels and hostels, came to the capital Warsaw.

On the other hand, the application, which was enacted in the Polish parliament and aimed at facilitating the life of refugees, entered into force. In this context, the PESEL numbers necessary for Ukrainians to have their transactions done in official offices have started, and it has been decided that all refugees entering Poland will be granted a one-and-a-half-year residence permit, work permit, and benefit from health and education services free of charge as of February 24.
