Polish authorities have seized more than a ton of heroin, valued at approximately 52 million euros, concealed within a shipment of decorative bricks from the United Arab Emirates. Interior Minister Marcin Kierwinski described the interception at the port of Gdynia as the country’s largest anti-drug operation in over a decade. The massive bust, which resulted in the arrest of three Polish citizens, was initiated following a late-March tip-off from British customs officials. Finance Minister Andrzej Domanski credited the success to this international cooperation and newly installed border X-ray scanners, noting the seizure ranks among the largest in Europe. This record-breaking confiscation reflects a broader national crackdown, with Polish security forces having already seized over 83 tons of illicit drugs this year.
