Salt Lake, near the village of Dalyan in Çanakkale’s Ezine district, turns pink at certain times of the year. The algae that live here give Salt Lake its color, which fascinates visitors with its image. Only eight lakes in the world have these characteristics. The pink lakes, which appear to be filled with strawberry milk rather than water, get their red to pale pink color from algae that produce carotenoid pigments. These natural wonders, the majority of which are salt lakes, can also change color seasonally.
