Record-breaking Wildfires Ravage Canada

Canada is experiencing an unprecedented fire season, with a record number of burned areas and evacuations. Currently, there are 676 active fires across the country, with 385 of them out of control. Quebec, Alberta, and British Columbia are the most affected regions. So far, 3,475 forest fires have occurred, consuming 9 million hectares of land. Recently, the fires engulfed an additional 8.8 million hectares, surpassing the previous record set in 1989. The director general of the Northern Forestry Center expressed concerns about the ongoing fires, which have already broken multiple records. Evacuations have reached the highest level in 40 years, with over 155,000 people forced to leave their homes. Canada has received substantial international support, with firefighters from various countries aiding in the firefighting efforts.
