A 74-year-old woman climbed onto the balcony of her house in Singapore on Sunday in an attempted suicide. Upon receiving the notification, the Singapore Civil Defense Forces launched an operation to rescue the woman. The teams prevented the woman from jumping down by using a net they threw from two floors above and then descended to push her in. After the incident, the elderly woman was transferred to the hospital.
A bronze statue of US First Lady Melania Trump was stolen near her hometown of Sevnica, Slovenia. The statue, depicting her waving during Donald Trump’s 2017 inauguration, was cut off at the ankles. Police launched an investigation after a tip-off on May 13.
An earlier wooden version of the statue was destroyed by arson in 2020. The current bronze replica, built by US artist Brad Downey, replaced it on a concrete base. Despite her local fame, Melania has never returned to her hometown since leaving Slovenia in the 1990s to pursue a modeling career in the US.
