Near 10 provinces of Türkiye that were affected by the 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes that struck in Kahramanmaraş, search and rescue operations are still ongoing. After 71 hours, a young boy who was under the collapsed structure in the center of Adıyaman was found and saved. The first words of little Ahmet Eren moved the rescue teams. “Where are you taking me? The ancient city of Kibyra in Burdur’s Gölhisar district, historically known as the “city of gladiators,” offered a stunning backdrop during the Perseid meteor shower on August 12-13. Renowned for its Roman-era structures and multi-layered history, Kibyra is on UNESCO’s World Heritage Tentative List since 2016. Visitors were treated to views of the Odeon, Medusa mosaic, and monumental fountain, all set against the illuminated night sky over the Gölhisar Plain.
