Roe Deer Begins New Life After Severe Road Accident

A roe deer, who lost its sight after presumably being hit by a vehicle, was treated at the Ormanya Wildlife Park Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in Kocaeli, Türkiye and was taken under protection in the living protection area of the facility. The deer was released after 3 weeks of treatment and started a new life with other roe deer in the area.

“Karacas, which we thought was hit by a vehicle, had a very heavy blow in the head area. We determined that its right eye lost its function as a result of an injury, the vision in the left eye decreased, and most importantly, there was internal bleeding. Even though we restored the vital functions of the eye after intensive treatment, the visual impairment could not be completely resolved. Under these conditions, it had no chance of surviving in nature. However, it will now join the roe deer family within Ormanya,” said veterinarian Muhammet Nalkıran.
