Russia carried out large-scale attacks on energy systems in Ukraine. Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushenko announced in his statement that Russian troops carried out the biggest attack of recent times on Ukraine’s energy system at night. Galushenko said, “The aim is not only to cause damage, but also to cause large-scale damage to the country’s energy system, as was the case last year. “Unfortunately, damage occurred to production facilities, transmission and distribution systems in different regions,” he said. Galushenko stated that due to the attacks, a power line feeding the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) was damaged and said, “In addition, one of the energy supply lines feeding the nuclear power plant was cut off due to the bombardment. There is a power outage in some areas. “Energy companies are working to restore electricity,” he said.
