Russian Deputy Defense Minister Detained on Corruption Charges

Timur Ivanov, Russian Deputy Defense Minister, faced a judge at Moscow’s Basmanny Court after being detained by the Investigative Committee for corruption. Investigators allege Ivanov accepted bribes from companies during contract negotiations, although Ivanov denied these claims, citing social meetings. The court ordered Ivanov’s detention until the June 23 hearing. The indictment states Ivanov received over 1 million rubles in bribes, with potential penalties including 15 years in prison and significant fines.

Ivanov, in office since 2016, oversaw military property, accommodations, medical matters, and procurement.
