One of the engines on the Boeing 737-type passenger plane that took off from Russia’s Novosibirsk International Airport to Moscow with 176 passengers caught fire shortly after departing. The pilot decided on an immediate landing back at the airport. After a safe landing, the passengers were taken to a different plane. The plane was towed to the hangar of the airport, and an investigation was launched into the incident.
Thousands gathered in Paris’ Republic Square to protest the killing of Aboubakar Cisse, a Malian man fatally stabbed at a mosque in southern France. Demonstrators held banners reading “Justice for Aboubakar” and “Islamophobia exists and kills.” Organized by the Supreme Council of Malians in France, the silent protest accused political and media discourse of fueling hate crimes. Some French officials and Muslim community members joined the rally, calling for accountability and stronger action against racism and Islamophobia.
