A sandstorm occurred in the cities of Hermosillo, Guaymas and Empalme in the state of Sonora, located in northern Mexico. The strong winds blew the roofs off many buildings, knocking down trees. There were serious disruptions in electricity and transportation in the regions. Sonora State Governor Alfonzo Durazo reported that there were no casualties.
