A grueling search operation for seven treasure hunters trapped in a flooded cave in central Laos has entered its seventh day, heavily hampered by relentless monsoon rains. The group became stranded by sudden flash floods while searching for gold in Xaisomboun province, with only one member managing to escape and alert local authorities. To bolster the difficult rescue, expert cave divers from Thailand, including veterans of the famous 2018 Tham Luang operation, have deployed to the remote site. Emergency teams are currently battling through muddy, water-filled passages as narrow as 50 centimeters, utilizing high-capacity pumps and life-detection devices to clear the way. While no signs of life have been confirmed yet, rescuers remain hopeful that the missing individuals found refuge in deeper, elevated chambers above the floodwaters.
