Severe Storms Ground Flights and Flood Barcelona

Heavy storms and torrential rains have severely disrupted daily life across eastern and northwestern Spain. In Barcelona, extreme weather flooded city metro stations and forced the cancellation of more than 100 flights at El Prat Airport. Catalonia’s meteorological agency has issued a yellow alert, warning of potential tornadoes and winds exceeding 90 kilometers per hour. Urging residents to take immediate precautions, local authorities advised, “The rains may cause sudden increases in water levels… Do not approach or pass through streams, valleys, or low-lying areas.” With intermittent showers expected to continue along the eastern coast in the coming days, the region remains on high alert.
