siamese twins from yemen seperated successfully

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) officials took action for the Siamese twins Ahmad and Mohamad, who were born in Yemen during the civil war in December 2020. Conjoined from the chest and abdomen, the twins underwent surgery in July at a children’s hospital in Amman, Jordan. The twins, separated by a successful operation, returned to their homes in Yemen after months of treatment.

UNICEF Yemen Representative Philippe Duamelle stated that the operation was successful thanks to the efforts of private donors, the medical team and Jordanian authorities. He added that the twins were successfully separated, but that the voices of thousands of children in Yemen, unfortunately, could not be heard. Duamelle added that children in Yemen need the protection of their basic rights such as shelter, education and nutrition more than ever, and that peace in Yemen is urgent and necessary.
