Heavy rains and landslides in South Korea have killed 19 people and left nine missing, prompting President Lee Jae Myung to declare six regions as special disaster areas. Nearly 7,000 structures were damaged and 14,000 people evacuated, with 2,549 still unable to return home.
The floods also destroyed 29,448 hectares of farmland and killed 1.8 million livestock, raising concerns over food supply. The government pledged financial aid and full support for recovery efforts.
