South Korea Suspends Arrest Warrant for President Yoon

South Korea’s Corruption Investigation Office (CIO) announced it has suspended executing an arrest warrant for President Yoon Suk Yeol due to tensions with the Presidential Security Service (PSS) and safety concerns.

The CIO cited resistance from the PSS and police at the presidential residence in Seoul as making the warrant’s execution “nearly impossible.” A statement expressed regret over the president’s non-compliance with legal procedures and confirmed plans to reevaluate future actions. The ongoing crisis follows a contentious martial law situation that has intensified political tensions in the country.
