Bae Hyun-jin, a member of parliament from the ruling People’s Power Party in South Korea, was attacked by a 15-year-old on a street. After asking the MP, “Are you MP Bae Hyun-jin?” the attacker began hitting her in the head 15 times with a fist-sized stone and ran away. The MP, who was covered in blood, was taken to a hospital and said to be in a non-critical condition.
The attacker, who was detained shortly after, was determined to have psychological problems such as bipolar disorder and depression.
