Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said American voters had rejected policies that deepen economic hardship and promote hatred, commenting on the initial results of the US midterm elections. In a social media post, Sanchez, a vocal critic of US President Donald Trump, said voters had also rejected sexism, climate change denial and privileges for political and economic elites. Drawing parallels with recent elections in Brazil and the United States, he predicted a similar outcome in Spain’s upcoming general elections. “The far-right wave that Feijoo and Abascal tried to ride is no longer growing, it is collapsing,” Sanchez said, referring to opposition leaders Alberto Núñez Feijóo and Santiago Abascal.
