After explosion with dynamite in a stone quarry, belonging to a private company, in the Hüseyinli District of Çekmeköy in Istanbul, Turkey, windows of nearby houses were shattered, and cracks appeared on the walls. The columns of the mosque in the neighborhood were also cracked due to the explosions.
Stating that they have been disturbed by the explosions and have been living in fear in their houses with the cracks for a long time, the locals asked authorities for help.
“The explosions had been occuring in previous years as well. But the final explosion was very different. The stones rained down on the neighborhood. We take solace in the fact that the stones did not fall on a person’s head. There are cracks in the roofs, there are stones hitting the walls. Stones fall next to you when you are in your garden. There are also serious cracks in the houses from the shaking,” said a local.
