Syrians who fled to Türkiye during the civil war are now returning to Damascus, declaring the city free after the collapse of the Baath regime. Many are calling on their fellow citizens still in Türkiye to return home, saying the war is over.
Muhammad Jasem, who lived in Türkiye for a decade, said, “I returned three months ago. The war is over, Syria is beautiful, and I am happy. Damascus is free, and there are no restrictions.”
Similarly, Abdulqarim Ibrahim, who returned a year ago, added, “Syria is free now. Those in Turkey, come back and work for our homeland’s freedom.”
