On New Year’s Day, thousands gathered in Istanbul following morning prayers at the Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque to march to the Galata Bridge in solidarity with Gaza in Istanbul. Organized by 308 civil society groups under the National Will Platform, participants waved Palestinian and Turkish flags while chanting slogans like “We are waking up the world” and “A Sun is Rising.” Aerial footage captured the large crowds as they demonstrated support for the Palestinian cause.

Settled by Urartians and later used in Byzantine and Ottoman eras, Altıntepe Castle in Erzincan’s Üzümlü district has drawn fresh attention after new drone footage showcased its hilltop ruins. Scientific digs begun in 1959 revealed a citadel gate, temple-palace, apadana, storage buildings, and stone tombs, marking Altıntepe as one of the westernmost Urartian centers. Many finds are displayed at the Erzincan Museum, including ceramics, horse tack, metal fittings, and arrowheads. Though excavations are paused, the site remains a key reference point for Anatolian archaeology.
