Following the two armed attacks that killed 17 people last week in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, 50,000 people took to the streets to protest violence. The demonstrators held Interior Minister Bratislav Gasic and Security and Intelligence Agency Head Aleksandar Vulin responsible for the attacks and demanded their resignation. They also demanded the cessation of incitement to violence, the removal of violent programs, the resignation of the management of Serbian Radio and Television (RTS) and the supervisory board that determines which channels will be broadcast in Serbia.

The city has been decorated with TDT flags ahead of the summit, which will take place at the historic Varkert Bazar near the Danube.
Leaders from Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Hungary are expected to attend. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will also hold bilateral talks during his visit.
The summit will focus on deepening strategic cooperation among Turkic states, with discussions on economic ties, security, and cultural heritage. The event will conclude with the adoption of the Budapest Declaration.
