Former U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that the US is committed to buying and owning Gaza, suggesting that other Middle Eastern countries could rebuild it under US protection. Speaking aboard Air Force One, he described Gaza as a “big real estate site” that the US would develop slowly and claimed there was nothing left to fix. He also suggested relocating some Palestinians to the US.
The statement drew strong reactions from the Palestinian Authority, Hamas, Arab leaders, and European countries. The Kremlin responded cautiously, with spokesman Dmitry Peskov saying details of Trump’s plan should be awaited, emphasizing that Gaza remains home to 1.2 million Palestinians under the framework of a two-state solution.
Trump previously made similar remarks during a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on February 4.
