During a visit to Ireland, US President Donald Trump called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to stop launching long-range drone attacks on Russian diesel refirenies. Warning of the global economic fallout, Trump stated, “Mr. Zelensky has to do one thing; he has to stop knocking out diesel fuel in Russia,” adding that targeting fuel supplies is “causing shortage of diesel.” The US leader further argued that the current global fuel shortage stems directly from the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, rather than military tensions in the Middle East. However, despite Trump suggesting there are “plenty of other targets,” Kyiv continues to maintain that Russian oil refineries remain legitimate military targets.
