The Turkish Consulate General in Aleppo has resumed operations after being closed in 2012 due to Syria’s civil war. The reopening ceremony featured the raising of the Turkish flag, attended by Burhan Köroğlu, Türkiye’s Temporary Charge d’Affaires in Damascus, and Aleppo Consul General Hakan Cengiz.
Köroğlu emphasized Türkiye’s commitment to supporting Aleppo’s restoration and assisting Syrians wishing to return home. He noted the consulate would facilitate requests regarding Türkiye, symbolizing strengthened ties between the two nations. Residents celebrated the reopening with enthusiasm, marking a step toward rebuilding relations.
